LIS Virtual - massive point cloud data processing

This package contains tools for virtual point cloud datasets (an XML-based description of a mosaic of point clouds allowing seamless data access for data dissemination and processing of mass data), including tools for spatial subset extraction (clipping), retiling, gridding and thinning. Virtual point cloud datasets can be created from SAGA point clouds, LAS/LAZ files or Riegl RDBX files.


Tool: Create Tileshape from Virtual LAS/LAZ

Features
• creation of a polygon shapefile with the bounding boxes of the datasets included in a virtual LAS/LAZ dataset
• attributes besides geometry: file path, filename, number of points
Application
• creation of a shapefile showing the spatial extent of the tiles contained in a virtual LAS/LAZ dataset

• aggregation methods: minimum, maximum, mean attribute value or point count
• query can be constrained by an attribute value range, e.g., only ground points
• one output dataset per polygon in the polygon shapefile

• creation of overviews (drastic reduction of the amount of memory required for visualization)
