Analysis of solar potential by using ALS data
The calculation of the solar potential is based on high resolution digital surface models. Our tools allow for evaluations ranging from single buildings up to entire metropolises and federal states.
The evaluations comprise:
- calculation of direct and diffuse irradiation components
- consideration of nearby (e.g. buildings, vegetation) and distant (mountain range) shadows
- flexible calculation time interval
- integration of meteorological data
- daily, monthly or yearly cumulative values in kWh/m2
The results are mainly used for:
- estimation of energy yield of solar- and photovoltaic plants
- production site analysis and the dimensioning of plants
- assessment of funding requests for solar- and photovoltaic installations
- political decision making
Single location analyses Single location analyses are calculated with a 6 min interval and additionally comprise:
- sun path diagram with integrated horizon line
- sun duration diagram
- calculation of the optimal orientation of photovoltaic and solar panels
The results are used by building owners, solar installers, architects and plant manufactures.
